I updated my avatar for the first time in a very long time today. I'd have to say it hasn't changed for the last 8 years, possibly more. A small insight - It was a (bad) drawing I did in Photoshop to describe my teeth. I had braces for 6 years and refused to take them off out of fear my teeth would go crooked again. I have permanent braces on the back of my teeth now. It originally had a cigarette in it, but I took it out because I was scared my parents my found out I smoked.

I still exist and I still take photos. I still think about AVS sometimes. I've been planning on getting a desktop computer for a handful of things (visual art projects mainly) which automatically makes me think of AVS. Maybe I'll do something. Maybe I'll still get put into Visbot after all.

Hard to believe I created this page ten years ago. Thank you to everyone who has looked over my things for the last decade. Thank you to AVS community and to the photography community. 

I hope everyone I've interacted with, in one way or another has been safe and will continue to be so.

It has been years since I have even looked at an AVS preset, let alone thought about Winamp. I was walking down the street and heard two people say it was shutting down, which came as what I guess I would call a shock. While I am far from involved in the community (or deviantart for that matter), I do feel saddened by this and feel as if something I enjoyed being a part of so much may be ending finally. From what I've found it hasn't shut down as yet, so finger crossed. If you have any petitions links I can sign, please leave them in the comments, I will gladly go ahead and sign them.

I intend somewhat to rejoin the AVS community. I'm not quite sure how to get the add on for Mac, framesofreality sent me a link but I lost it. Maybe one day I will. the community may be gone by then. It may be gone already, I'm really not sure

as if the avs situation in general, and especially on deviantart, wasn't bad enough - it is now longer allowed to upload installers as it's been a standard for over 10 years.

i do understand the general security concerns over hosting executable files, but at the same time deviantart staff showed little interest to support available alternatives. for avs and milkdrop, the alternative are .pimp files, basically 7-zip files that can be interpreted as installers. unfortunately, deviantart's backend automatically renames those files to .7z and thus all the functionality from those files is being removed (unless you're aware you can simply rename the file back to .pimp)

unfortunately, the is little we can do. since the scene has been shrinking over the years, i don't see how we could find enough backers in a petition (or anything like that.) still, you could try and spread the word about this by sharing the thumbnail in a journal entry. simply copy the thumbnail code on the left, and if you like add this text to it. there's also a forum discussion that you can take part in! -Yathosho
